Announced: August 2009.
An ultra compact, 28-112mm digicam
General impressions: the SD940 IS (Digital IXUS 120 IS outside of America) is very similar to last year's SD780, however, the optical formula seems much more appealing than that of the SD780. With a zoom that reaches 28mm wide (33mm in the SD780) and 112mm 'telescopic' (100mm in the SD780) the SD940 should be much more fun to use.
True, the optical viewfinder went MIA, and I used to love optical viewfinders, but, let's face it, optical finders are an endangered species in all digital cameras excepts SLRs, and probably for a good reason: LCDs have improved immensely during the past few years, they are more visible, consume less power (therefore not draining the battery as fast as they used to), and over all became not only a viable alternative, but in most cases, the preferred viewfinder.
